The Finnish International Studies Association (FISA) aims at promoting multidisciplinary research, maintaining a network of active people, and providing a link between academics and practitioners within the field of international studies. It is a member of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies. FISA has been active since 1993.
FISA’s most important activity is the big national conference that is organised once in every three years. The purpose of the conference is to provide a comprehensive, timely and multidisciplinary overview of the state of studies on international relations in Finland and gather together researchers (from junior to senior), policy makers and all those interested in the topic. The conference is organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Finnish Institute of International Affairs.
FISA also publishes a newsletter, maintains an electronic discussion and mailing list and organises seminars.
